Rose is one of the most classic essential oils - and the most expensive! This is due to the sheer volume of handpicked rose petals required to make the oil. Thirty roses yields only one drop of oil; it takes around 600 roses to make a single millilitre!
Rose absolute is slightly cheaper as it is made by solvent extraction, which yields a much higher amount of oil.
Rose oil one the most common oils used in perfumery and demand continues to grow. Unfortunately, there is huge temptation for less scrupulous operators to adulterate oils. A good indication will be the price; if it sounds to good to be true, it more than likely is so.
Rose oil is effective in all areas of life: for the soul, spirit and body. In aromatherapy, Rose oil is linked to the heart. It may be useful for the treatment of nerves, palpitations and insomnia, and can help release anger, despair and frustration.
Rose oil may also be valuable in treating women's gynaecological problems by purifying, regulating and tonifying.
In skin care, Rose oil is prized for its ability to soften and hydrate. It also habours stimulating and antiseptic qualities, which makes it idea for all skin care - especially mature, dry or sensitive skin.
