Echium oil contains a relatively high amount of Stearidonic Acid (SDA). SDA is an Omega 3 fatty acid which has been shown to act in similar way to EPA, an Omega 3 acid which is readily available in Fish oil and thought to be responsible for its anti-inflammatory effects. Generally plant-derived Omega 3 (such as that from Flax oil) must be converted into DHA and EPA in order for the health promoting potential of the oil to be realised. SDA bypasses this need by offering similar benefits with the need for conversion. Echium oil is also rich in other Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids making it an excellent nourishing oil for topical preparations. Due to the anti-inflammatory properties of SDA, it makes an excellent addition to products intended for dry irritated skin conditions. It is also commonly found in anti-wrinkle formulations.

This is a truly amazing oil! I'm so glad I did the research on it, and decided to try it out. It absorbs so beautifully, and the quality is FANTASTIC! I'm going to be ordering a lot more of this oil, full of omega 3, and I love the results!
