A Floral wax is one of the other products created during the solvent extraction of essential oils. The flowers are placed in solvent first to obtain the concrete and absolute. The concrete is then washed with alcohol to extract the absolute from the botanical material leaving behind the natural solid plant waxes. These waxes hold many of the benefits of the botanical including the moisturizing phospholipids.
Plant waxes may be added to the oil phase during cosmetic manufacture and make a wonderful addition to soaps. Jasmine and Rose waxes in particular offer a cost effective alternative to using the essential oil or absolute in your products.
