Palmarosa, much like it's close relative Lemongrass, is an oil that has been shown to exhibit both anti-microbial and insect repellent properties in several studies. Today the oil is mainly used in perfumery, particularly for soap, and as a source material for Geraniol which is used to mimic more the notes of expensive oils like Rose and Geranium. In Aromatherapy Palmarosa is recommended for the digestive and nervous systems acting as a digestive tonic and stimulant whilst having a calming yet uplifting effect on emotions. In skin care Palmarosa is known to moisturise the skin, while balancing the hydration levels and stimulating cell regeneration. It balances production of sebum, to keep the skin supple and elastic and is valuable for use with acne, dermatitis, scarring, rejuvenation and regenerating the skin, as well as fighting minor skin infections.
