Equipment

Pyrex Jug
Beakers
Spoon
Knife
Digital Scales
Round or Square Moulds (6 Cavity)
Isopropyl Alcohol Spray

Method

  1. Cut up half of the soap block (225g) into small cubes and melt in a pyrex jug in the microwave (for 30 seconds then stir and continue in 10sec bursts until melted) or in a double boiler until liquid.
  2. Measure out the Argan oil, and add the black clay and stir well.
  3. Add to the melted soap base.
  4. Measure out fragrance/essential oil. Keep gently stirring the soap base so as to avoid a skin forming on top.
  5. Add the fragrance mixture and mix well.
  6. Pour soap into mould and lightly spray the top with IPA to disperse air bubbles.
  7. Leave to set for 1 day and gently unmould.
  8. To stop the soap from sweating you will need to wrap straight away. We like to put it in an aluminium tin.

This recipe makes approx 2 bars (this is quite a big bar) depending on the size of the moulds.  If you double the recipe you will use all the soap base and make 4 - 6 bars.
