Chia seeds were highly valued by the Aztecs as an energy -rich staple food which stored well without going rancid. Today, Chia continues to gain popularity as more people discover its unique health benefits. The oil is particularly appealing due to it's extremely high levels of Alpha Linolenic (Omega 3) fatty acids which are know to have anti-inflammatory properties.

Studies have demonstrated remarkable skin tonic properties for the topical use of Chia Seed oil. When patients suffering from renal dysfunction applied a cream containing Chia Seed oil for two weeks, marked improvements in skin hydration, barrier function were seen as well as a reduction in moisture loss. More importantly skin itchiness was significantly reduced, this was crucial as dry itchy skin is a major complaint from renal dysfunction patients.

Chia seed oil is also rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals and so might be considered a 'multivitamin' for the skin.

Chia Seed Oil is one of my favourites

I have loved Chia Seed Oil and all it's wonderful fatty acids for a while and this is a great price for great quality. I use it in the mornings just on top of my moisturiser and it makes my makeup glide on so smoothly. It's also good on its own.
