An easy way to understand how they work is to imagine thousands of tiny ball bearings gliding across the surface of the skin.
This 'roll-over' property provides a luxurious feel, an enhanced tactile experience, and exceptional lubricity to both loose and pressed powder products. It improves the 'fluidity' of make-up powders and skin care products.
In topical preparations, Silica Microspheres act as a texturiser and anti-caking agent.
The spherical shape of the particles also diffuses light, helping to give a 'soft focus' look to the complexion.
The tiny beads can also act as a carrier and will hold fragrances and active ingredients through their adsorptive properties.
Usage rate: 1%-12% by weight.
