Magnesium Hydroxide, also recognised as brucite in its natural form, serves various purposes in the cosmetic industry. It functions as a filler, absorbent, and pH buffer, as well as a neutralizing agent. It is obtained via synthesis.
This compound exhibits low solubility in both water and ethanol, yet excels in its capacity to effectively absorb oils. Consequently, it proves valuable in topical applications, as it attracts oils from the skin's surface and even from within the pores.
Furthermore, Magnesium Hydroxide can be employed to counteract acidic conditions with a pH below 7.0. However, it carries out this neutralization process at a gradual pace and does not elevate the pH of products that already have a pH exceeding 7.0.
