Description

Made from cardboard these tubes are a great alternative for those wishing to reduce plastic use. The simple push-up action makes it ideal for oils-based sticks and balms.  The inside has a polyethylene coating to allow it to resist oils, however, it is not suitable for water-based formulations.

Formulation Advice

This type of tube requires a very hard stick/balm for the push-up function to work and different formulations can make pushing the base up more difficult, particularly in cooler weather. Gently warming the outside before application can help resolve this issue. Please make sure you have thoroughly tested your formulation before making a big batch.

POHO BALM

I look forward to see how long the balm holds together in a cardboard tube as well as in mini tins.

Ecologically Sound But...

Really want these to work, but I have bought these a couple of times and find them a bit hit and miss to be honest.

Some work really well, hold the lip balm well, and pushes up fine. a few have leaked, the push up card moves too much, and the last batch, half of the lip balms couldn't be pushed up. Thought it was a formulation issue, but when testing all of the products made, some did some didn't.

Also, the labels do not stick to the outside card, they come away.

They didn't some apart in the handbag test we did, which I was afraid may happen.
