Hydrosols, also known as Hydrolats or Floral Waters, are normally produced during the distillation of essential oils. The plant matter is distilled with water and steam and the distillate is then simply separated into an oil fraction - the essential oil, and a water fraction - the hydrosol.
The hydrosol contains water-soluble compounds found in the plant along with a minute amount of residual essential oil left over from the separation process. Being a good source of nutrients for microbial growth, all PureNature Hydrosols come pre-preserved to ensure shelf stability.
Cucumber Hydrosol results from the distillation of Cucumber Fruit, no essential oil is obtained in this case as the water is actually the desired product. This is a 100% pure and natural, non-alcoholic distillate preserved with Grapefruit Seed Extract.
Cucumber Hydrosol is known for its cooling and refreshing properties making it an ideal ingredient for summer spritzes and gels. It is also well-known as a calming and soothing ingredient and so works well in formulations for sensitive or irritated skin.
