INCI:Gluconolactone (and) Sodium Benzoate*

*Also contains 1-2% Calcium Gluconate though this is not listed in the official INCI

A combination of a naturally occurring food additive glucono delta lactone (derived from corn) and a food-grade preservative sodium benzoate (the sodium salt of benzoic acid) along with a trace amount of calcium gluconate as a processing agent. This preservative is excellent for challenging formulations that tend to separate after time and are affected by chemical reactions. Because it is provided in powder form it will not jeopardise stability like most of the other natural or alternative preservatives.

Geogard Ultra™ is accepted by ECOCERT as a preservative in certified organic cosmetics.

Naturagard Ultra not only provides effective protection against product spoilage, but it can also increase the skin moisturising capacity of the formulation.

Great preservative if you want a scent free product.

I have been using this in my products for some time and it is a really good preservative. Unfortunately it can cause some sensitisation so I have been using it along side another preservative to lessen the effects.

Takes a while to dissolve

It's nice to know it's ECOCERT approved, and it seems to work perfectly fine as preservatives. But it takes quite long time to dissolve, even when heated, despite that it's water-soluble. Maybe we're supposed to leave it for hours for it to dissolve??

hmmmm?

first time using it (after Naturagard Ultra, with which I've NEVER had probs) but had 'fiber' forming. Still trying to get around how/what...

It is a widely used perservative though and I've heard little problems about it. Based on that - for now - I would still purchase it again (different batch) to see how that behaves before making up my mind to continue or seize use for myself. So, for now, I would still recommend the product and take my probs for a one-off.
