Traditionally, lemon balm was used as a pleasant and cooling tea for feverish patients in cases of catarrh and influenza, and was believed to treat all complaints resulting from a disordered state of the nervous system.

Lemon balm was also frequently used as one of the ingredients in pot-pourri due to its sweet, lemon scent.

Lemon balm makes an excellent tea that can help to soothe indigestion and inflammation.
