Description
Hydrosols, also known as Hydrolats or Floral Waters, are normally produced during the distillation of essential oils. The plant matter is distilled with water and steam and the distillate is then simply separated into an oil fraction - the essential oil, and a water fraction - the hydrosol.
The hydrosol contains water-soluble compounds found in the plant along with a minute amount of residual essential oil left over from the separation process. This makes it a good source of nutrients for microbial growth. As such, it comes pre-preserved with an ECOCERT-approved blend of Benzyl Alcohol, Sodium Benzoate and Potassium Sorbate. A trace amount of Ethanol is also used to disperse the preservative.
Cucumber Hydrosol results from the distillation of Mint leaf, no essential oil is obtained in this case as the water is actually the desired product. This is a 100% pure and natural, non-alcoholic distillate.
Mint is known for it's cooling and invigorating properties along with antibacterial and anti inflammatory actions, it's a good choice for inflamed and acne prone skin. Ideal as a mist spray for summer days, workouts and hot flushes.
