Mustard seeds have been used for food and medicine for centuries by many cultures. One of the key properties is a as a heating, pungent spice,  most commonly found in the condiment which we call mustard. It is worth noting that this action only occurs when the seeds react with water or indeed saliva. The cold pressed oil therefore does not have these properties and can be safely used topically. The benefits of Mustard Oil have long been advocated in the Indian traditional medicine system, Ayurveda. It is considered to be a something of a miracle oil for the skin and hair tonic that will staunch wounds and even prevent one from going grey.

Mustard oil is well known as a massage oil due to it's mild warming properties, this also makes it an excellent base for liniments. It is reputed to have anti-fungal properties and as such may be used for ointments and salves. Mustard oil is commonly used in India as a hair and scalp tonic, it may be applied neat and simply combed through for this purpose.

This oil, as researched, is really warming when I use it on my skin, I do have to dilute, but it's really great made into a 25% solution with oils and essential oils that help with pain relief. It has mildly sharp tang to it, and blends really well with other oils, and essential oils. Fantastic product, so glad I ordered.
