Description

Sodium benzoate is a safe, economical preservative commonly used in preparations such as creams, lotions, gum solutions, and toothpaste. The advantages of sodium benzoate in these applications are that it is colorless, odorless, readily soluble, and is generally compatible with other ingredients.

It is most effective when used at a pH between 2.0 - 4.5 and the following maximum usage rates are recommended:
Rinse off products: 2.5%
Leave on products: 0.5%

Used as preservative for gelli plate

I bought and used this product to make 2 gelli plates in the hope that the sodium benzoate will help to preserve them for a few months. So far so good!

Stabilize Your Skincare

I Love this. It is perfect as a co-preservative to ensure your formulations are stable. I dissolve 0.3% in one of my water soluable ingredients for cold formulas, and use 1% of my normal preservative. If using it in an emulsion, dissolve in one of the water soluable ingredients that go into the cool doen phase. Do not heat it, especially if you have absorbic acid in the formula, the heating process can lesson the effects as much as 50% or less and it can turn into Benzene. No one wants that.
