Cistus is also known as Rock Rose (one of the Bach flower extracts in Rescue Remedy) and has a warming, soothing nature. Primarily a perfume oil where it offers a delicate, dry floral note with the depth of amber, and acts as a fixative.

Cistus is used to help regenerate slow-healing or mature skin. Highly antiseptic, it has traditionally been used for infected and inflamed skin to aid wound healing. It can also be useful for acne or boils.

Cistus helps with lymphatic drainage when used in a massage oil. For swollen lymph glands it can be applied in a warm compress, and will also ease congestion during coughs, colds and bronchitis.

Cistus is said to soothe the soul during times of shock or trauma, especially when a sense of numbness, disconnect or cold is prevalent. It can help to restore presence of mind in a crisis when feeling frozen or helpless. Cistus is also used to centre the mind during meditation.
