Exfoliants from the Pantry
DIY Face and body scrubs are easy to make, and many of the ingredients you'll need can be found in your pantry! They can easily be tailored to your skin type by using different exfoliants. When choosing an exfoliant we want to select gentle exfoliants, especially for the face - so as not to damage the skin. Some skin types will need gentler/softer ones than others. Play around and find the one your skin likes best.
Exfoliation is an essential step of skin cleansing – our skin regenerates regularly so we want to remove the dead cells to allow our skin to breathe and glow. A general rule of thumb of once to twice a week is a good habit to get into.
As we are making these products without preserving them, we want to make them as we need them, so the quantities will be given for a single-use scrub. You can upscale them as well if you are making for your bubble. You can also keep your chosen ground/powdered dry exfoliant in a clean glass jar to use next time.
When exfoliating it is important to be gentle on your skin. Scrub softly for about 30 seconds with your fingers in circular motions and then rinse off with tepid water.

Note: Exfoliants for the face will need to be put in a grinder and powdered. Always check the coarseness on your hand before using on the face. Some oils are lighter than others, try to lean towards the lighter ones if you have them.
Tip: You can use your existing cleanser and just add the exfoliant to it in your hand each time you want to exfoliate.
