Whipped Tallow Balm Recipe

Create your own luxurious whipped balm—a nourishing blend of rich tallow and natural oils, whipped to perfection for soft, hydrated skin with a beautiful, airy finish.

Ingredients

Makes 100gms (2 x 60ml amber pots)

Equipment

Glass Pryex Jug
Saucepan that will fit the bowl on top
Digital Scales that go down to 0.1g
Electric hand mixer
Spatula
Jars or Tins

Method

  1. Place all tallow into a double boiler and gently melt it until liquid (40–45°C).
  2. Remove from heat.
  3. Add the carrier oil (jojoba), essential oil(s), and vitamin E. Stir thoroughly.
  4. Cool the mixture to a semi-firm consistency (20–25°C). 
  5. Use a hand mixer or stand mixer to whip it until light and fluffy.
  6. Pipe or spoon int it into jars or tins while it’s still light and airy for a beautiful finish.

This recipe has been formulated for adults - if using this on the face decrease essential oils to 0.5g (10 drops). If using on children, reduce to 0.5g (10 drops) - 0.25g (5 drops) depending on age. 

Double Boiler
Half fill a saucepan with water, bring to the boil and reduce to a gentle simmer.
Place the ingredients into a pouring pitcher, tempered glass or stainless steel jug small enough to fit inside the saucepan and best if the handle goes over the outside of the pot. Carefully place the bowl onto the simmering water.
