Sodium Bicarbonate or 'Baking Soda' as it is commonly known has literally hundreds of uses, most of which have very little to do with baking! In Bath Bombs, Baking Soda is not only partially responsible for the fizzing effect but also when added to bath water it acts to soften the skin. It also makes a great addition to body, face and and scrubs as it gently softens, smooths and exfoliate the skin. It can also be added to Shampoos and Conditioners where it enhances the cleansing effect of the shampoo - particularly effective for greasy build up from styling products and conditioners.
Is your baking soda aluminium free? We get asked this a lot and the answer is yes, because actually all sodium bicarbonate or baking soda is aluminium free. The confusion arises because some baking powdercontains aluminium. Although baking powder does contain sodium bicarbonate, the aluminium component comes from added aluminium salts - not the sodium bicarbonate.
