Equipment

Glass Pyrex or stainless steel jug/bowl
Saucepan that will fit bowl on top
Spatula or spoon
Digital Scales that to down to 1g
Lip Balm Tubes / Tins

Method

  1. Have all your ingredients ready and weighed out first.
  2. Melt the wax, oil and butter in a double boiler or in the microwave in a glass pyrex jug. When it is liquid take it off the heat. If you are using mica, add it now and give it a good stir.
  3. When it has cooled down a bit add your flavour or essential oils and mix well. Lastly add the antioxidant (vitamin e) and stir well. If your mixture starts to solidify just pop it back onto the heat briefly.
  4. Pour into Lip balm tubes or tins and leave to set. Leave the lids off your containers while its setting to avoid condensation. When it is hard it is ready to use! Enjoy!

Double Boiler

Half fill a saucepan with water, bring to the boil and reduce to a gentle simmer.

Place the ingredients into a pyrex jug or stainless-steel jug small enough to fit inside the saucepan and best if the handle goes over the outside of the pot. If using a bowl carefully place the bowl on top of the saucepan.
